Hi, Fanworkers! 🌟
How have you been this past week?
Korea is a country with four distinct seasons, and one of its charms is that you can experience different natural landscapes every month. October, in particular, is a beautiful time as autumn reaches its peak, and the vibrant colors of the leaves warm the heart. This issue, I want to recommend one of the best places to see the fall foliage: Bulguksa Temple! 🍂 However, the stunning autumn scenery at Bulguksa might leave you wanting more, so I’ve prepared a 1-night, 2-day itinerary in Gyeongju that includes nearby attractions.🎒 This course is packed with the charm of Gyeongju, making it a perfect way to enjoy your autumn trip! |

To kick off your adventure, you’ve got to fill up your stomach first, right? Let’s grab a bite! 😋 |

🍽️ Recommended Menu: An Ark Shell Bibimbap, Cold Raw Beef SoupThe wait for Hyangwhajeong is definitely worth it✨ With fresh ingredients and visually appealing dishes, your eyes and taste buds will both be thrilled. The special sauce for an ark shell bibimbap is enough to whet your appetite, and the raw beef submerged in a spicy and tangy icy broth is simply irresistible. Don’t miss out on the side dish, Pajeon, which is loaded with shrimp, offering a crispy yet chewy texture that’s absolutely delightful! 🥢 |

🍽️ Recommended Menu: Spicy Octopus Bibim Kalguksu, Potato JeonIf you want to experience the bold and spicy flavors of Korea, Shilla Jemyeon is the place to be!🌶️ The plump octopus and chewy noodles create a delightful explosion of taste in your mouth. And when the spiciness starts to tingle, you’ll crave the crispy Potato Jeon. This light and crispy dish pairs perfectly with the spicy octopus bibim kalguksu. I highly recommend enjoying these two dishes together! 🔥🥢 |

After a hearty meal, you’re all set to explore Gyeongju! 🎉
__
Gyeongju is one of the oldest cities in Korea, having served as the capital of the Silla Kingdom for nearly a thousand years. With such a rich history, it’s home to various cultural heritage sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bulguksa Temple, Seokguram Grotto, and Daereungwon. Because of its historical significance, most Korean students visit Gyeongju at least once for a school trip. How about diving into Gyeongju's history on your first day? 🏛️ |

The National Gyeongju Museum is a fantastic place to delve into ancient artifacts and Shilla culture. It showcases precious relics that give you a glimpse into the history and daily life of the Shilla Kingdom. The museum also offers various interactive programs and exhibitions to deepen your understanding of Korean history. Plus, it’s impressive that you can enjoy the artifacts in harmony with nature outside the museum! 🌿✨ |

Cheomseongdae is the oldest astronomical observatory in East Asia. Its unique circular structure made entirely of stone is impressive, giving insight into the level of astronomy and science of the time.💫🌌 Visiting around sunset or in the evening allows you to enjoy a romantic atmosphere under beautiful lighting, making it a perfect spot for a stroll with a partner or family. 🙌 |

4. Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond [동궁과월지] |

This is the editor's top recommendation‼️ Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond was the secondary palace of the Shilla royal family, known as a venue for royal banquets. With its beautiful pond, you can enjoy serene scenery during the day and breathtaking night views illuminated by lights.🌌 The patterns of the buildings reflected in the pond and the shadows of the moon give a feeling of Shilla’s grandeur. Personally, I consider it one of the top 5 night view spots in Korea, so I highly recommend visiting after dark. Even when it's crowded, the majestic atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy the tranquility. 🌙 |

5. Woljeonggyo Bridge [월정교] |
274, Gyodong, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do |
Woljeonggyo Bridge is a restored wooden bridge from the Shilla era, beautifully representing Shilla culture. The wooden structure and pillars reflect the craftsmanship of that time. While the bridge is stunning during the day, it transforms into a different atmosphere at night with its dazzling lights, almost like the bridge itself becomes a magnificent light show over the river. If you prefer a quieter experience in Gyeongju, sitting on a nearby bench to admire Woljeonggyo is a great way to soak in the surroundings. 🌉✨ |

Café Bush is a stylish spot favored by locals, featuring an interior that harmonizes beautifully with nature.🌿 The combination of white and wood tones creates a cozy atmosphere you can't go wrong with. While the ambiance is undoubtedly charming, the coffee and desserts are beloved by regulars. If you're a coffee enthusiast, savor the rich and nutty flavors of their beans. Don’t miss out on the Mango Sando and Lime Pie, which are must-try menu items that pair perfectly together! ☕🍰 |

1-1. Nokeum Bakery [녹음제과] |
36, Cheomseong-ro 49-gil, Gyeongju (Sajeong-dong) |
Nokeum Bakery is only open on Sundays! The name " Nokeum" has a double meaning: it refers to lush green trees🌱 and also to the sensation of melting in your mouth.😋
They offer a variety of breads that are both delicious and visually appealing. Their pastries and croissants are especially tasty, so be sure to give them a try when you're in Gyeongju! Just remember to arrive early, as they might sell out if you go too late! 🥐🍞 |

How can you visit Gyeongju without seeing Bulguksa?🫨 This UNESCO World Heritage site is a representative temple of the Shilla Kingdom and an unmissable attraction in Gyeongju. With numerous national treasures like the Dabotap Pagoda and Seokgatap Pagoda, it’s rich in historical value.💫 Especially in autumn, the serene landscape adorned with red leaves offers a peaceful retreat for the soul. Just walking around Bulguksa will provide an ample opportunity to enjoy the fall foliage this year. It’s breathtaking in photos, but seeing it in person is even more majestic! I definitely want to visit this weekend! 🍂 |

The Solgeo Art Museum became even more famous after BTS RM visited! This museum beautifully blends modern and traditional art, allowing you to enjoy artworks in a natural setting.🥰 The museum's interior is thoughtfully designed, enhancing your experience as you take in the beautiful surroundings along the scenic walking paths of Gyeongju. Gyeongju World is the amusement park in Gyeongju for thrill-seekers!🎡 It offers a variety of rides and attractions for the whole family. The " Draken" roller coaster, which features a 90-degree vertical drop, is particularly famous.🎢 The spacious park allows you to experience various themes, providing a diverse range of fun. And when the weather cools down a bit, the wait times for attractions aren’t too long!
